Extortionary Sense of Humor

Gifted students often possess a remarkable sense of humor, characterized by dry wit and cleverness. I recall a memorable incident that took place during Club Day, a monthly activity held during the last hour of school where students can participate in various clubs. As a co-sponsor of the Board Game club, I was present during this particular occasion, which happened to be the last day before spring break, coinciding with Easter.

While the group of students engaged in a board game, the conversation shifted to Easter. Since it was a club day and no one was being mean-spirited, I decided to simply sit back and listen. A few minutes later, one girl in the group remarked, "You do know that Jesus died on the cross for your sins." In a deadpan and flat tone, her friend responded, "Spoilers, I am only on Genesis." The entire group burst into laughter, with the friend even falling out of his chair. It's not often that you hear jokes like this in middle school, and it was a delightful moment that highlighted their unique humor.
